Been A While

It's hard to write an update when your "to-do" list keeps getting in the way, but we missed sending one in February and March, so APRIL it is!

As most of you know, we spent the month of February trying to mend from our surgeries!  Adam had arthroscopy on his knee to repair the meniscus and take out some pieces of bone and cartilage that were no longer connected.  Then the doctor also drilled holes in his knee to create a soft pad from the blood clotted and add cushion to what has become a bone-on-bone situation.  Those repairs required the use of crutches for 6 weeks as to not bear all his weight and burst that blood clot.  Two weeks after his surgery I had a bicycle accident while competing in a sprint triathlon.  A compound fracture of my right arm, breaking both my radius and ulna, resulted in two surgeries and 8 days in the hospital.  Praise God for good medical care that can be found in Nairobi and more praises to God for the body of Christ coming together in prayer, support and care provided by so many taking wonderful care of us!  Although the team was stepping up to help out, we needed help in the home, especially once I was discharged from the hospital.  What a blessing when Adam's parents agreed to drop everything and come to the rescue.  Within 5 days, every step necessary for his parents to come was met.  They arrived that day I was released from the hospital.  It's an understatement to say it's been a tough season!  The emotional trauma of the accident compounded with Adam's recovery from surgery and trying to keep up with an already full calendar has had us stretched thin.  But we can attest to the goodness of God!  In the midst of the struggle, we are encouraged as we count our blessing and reflect on the miracles God performs around us every day.

Enough about our personal life.  Ministry and the advancement of the gospel is what motivates and drives us.  Adam has continued to pour into his disciples and help to lead multiple trainings in the past few months.  He also had the opportunity to travel to the coast where a mission partner is settling into their new field of service.  He participated in a mission sending meeting and has preached at a few churches as we continue to get to know more Baptist leaders in Nairobi.  I missed doing much of my local ministry while I've been gaining strength and mobility in my arm, but in the past few weeks have been getting back into it.  Please continue to pray that we would be found faithful as we make disciple-making disciples and learn more about how we can come alongside and mobilize the local, established churches here in Nairobi.
